This is a holiday treat, but frankly it's good year round. You can make either the alcoholic or the non-alcoholic version. I used to make it for my nephews when they were little, without the rum, of course.
Ingredient:
- Milk
- Sugar
- Rum or vanilla
Instructions:
1. Heat the desired amount of milk. Use whole milk, or else add cream to your skim milk. You want about a cup and a half per person, or a cup per child. You can heat it in the microwave, or on the stove. You want it hot but not boiling.
2. Set out the desired number of mugs -- one per person, in other words. Put a tablespoon of sugar in each mug. Add two tablespoons of rum or a splash of vanilla to each mug.
3. When the milk is hot, pour into the cups and stir well.
Optional: You can put a little whipped cream on top. This is especially fun if you have the kind of whipped cream that squirts out of a can. Feel free to use brandy or flavorings if you prefer!
